Policymakers
Our objective is to support policymakers in using economic research and analysis effectively in their decision-making process, ensuring they are better equipped to navigate the challenges of a rapidly evolving health and care landscape. Through our research, we will:
- Provide policymakers with evidence-based insights to influence resource allocation and policy decisions in health and care
- Equip them with the tools and knowledge to interpret health economics research and apply it to real-world challenges
- Foster collaborations that ensure research is aligned with the dynamic needs of health and care sectors
By supporting policymakers in understanding and using research, we help bridge the gap between research and policy, enabling informed, evidence-based decisions that impact the future of health and care.
General Public
Ultimately every taxpayer in the UK will be impacted by health and social care policy and decision making, and it is therefore vital for the long-term sustainability of the NHS and social care sectors that the diverse needs, preferences and concerns of the population are heard and addressed. We aim to inspire and involve the general public in the field of health economics and empower individuals to contribute to the conversation about the future of health and care by:
- Demystifying health economics and making it accessible to everyone, showing how it impacts everyday life and health and care decisions
- Involving individuals and communities in our research design and delivery, using methods to ensure our work resonates with people’s real-world experiences and that their voices are reflected in health and care policy making
- Encouraging public debate around the role of health economics in shaping a fair, sustainable, and resilient health and care system.
Public involvement means you – the community, patients, and anyone with a stake in health and care – actively shaping our research from start to finish.
Academia
For the academic community, we aim to build long-term research capacity and strengthen collaboration with the health and care sector. We will:
- Support junior researchers and REAL Fellows in career development through mentorship and leadership opportunities
- Promote interdisciplinary collaboration to drive innovative solutions and fresh perspectives in health economics
- Build research networks that connect academia with the health and care sectors, ensuring a continuous exchange of ideas
By fostering a collaborative and supportive academic environment, we aim to cultivate the next generation of health economics leaders who will shape the future of health and care research.
