Building a sustainable supply of health and care which meets the needs of everyone.

REAL Supply is a research project that equips health and care decision makers with the evidence they need to look beyond the short term.

Over the next 20 years, the health and social care sector in England will face a series of challenges that could fundamentally reshape how health and care services are provided. The REAL Supply Research Unit aims to address these long term challenges by helping leaders and policy makers look beyond the short term, creating the conditions for more effective health and social care policy making.

Building Evidence

We want to develop economic research that helps make better choices and helps tackle complex issues around how choices made now affect the future supply of health and social care in a changing world.

We want to produce high quality economic research which:

  • Is informed by engagement with people from across the whole health and care landscape
  • Reflects the needs and priorities of everyone
  • Has the potential to drive sector-wide change

Building Capability

We want to give everyone the opportunity to interpret and use economic research and analysis, so that all voices, from those working in the sector to the general public, are able to debate the future of health and care.

We hope that, by creating these conditions, we can help:

  • Extend the reach and impact of health and care economic research
  • Inspire future health economists
  • Increase diversity of thought in the field
